The board of directors of Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kan., named the Rev. Robert L. Vogel as the college's interim president beginning Jan. 15. Vogel assumes the role from Dr. Paul K. Vogel retired in 1988 after serving 18 years as president of Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa. Since his retirement he has served as interim president at Grand View College, Des Moines, Iowa, and Waldorf College, Forest City, Iowa. All three schools, and Bethany, are among the 28 colleges and universities of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
Vogel is a native of Phillipsburg, Kan. He is a graduate of Wartburg College and Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa, one of eight ELCA seminaries. Vogel was ordained in 1960 and served parishes in Golden, Colo., and Denver. He and his wife Sally reside in Denver.
