Wheat Ridge Ministries will honor two members of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) with 2007 "Seeds of Hope"
awards Feb. 3 in Arlington Heights, Ill. Josselyn N. Bennett,
director for poverty ministries, ELCA Church in Society, and the
Rev. Charles D. Infelt, Holy Family Lutheran Church, Chicago,
will be recognized "for their exemplary dedication and commitment
to serving in ministries of health, hope and healing," according
to a Wheat Ridge news release. Wheat Ridge will also honor
Kenneth Black, pastoral assistant, Trinity Lutheran Church,
Roselle, Ill., a congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri
Synod.
Wheat Ridge Ministries is a nonprofit independent organization
that seeds new ministries of "health and hope in the name of the
healing Christ." It gives "Seeds of Hope" awards "to thank God
for gifted and dedicated individuals who are a blessing to others
as they share health and hope through a lifetime of service in
their church and community." Wheat Ridge will host a similar
event Feb. 19 in Sarasota, Fla., to honor Dr. Betty Duda, Cindi
Kopelman, Michael Mueller, the Rev. Robert Selle and the Rev.
Robert Zimmer. Past "Seeds of Hope" events have been held in
Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New Orleans, New York,
Omaha, Neb., St. Paul, Minn., St. Louis, San Francisco and
Washington, D.C.
