ELCA offers new risk management resources

ELCA offers new risk management resources

July 17, 2007

by Lauren A. Lamb, ELCA News Service*

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is offering two
new risk management resources -- a monthly newsletter, "Church
Safety Solutions," and a "2007 Insurance Buyer's Guide." "We
would very much like these resources to be publicized, used and
shared," said David Ullrich, associate general counsel, ELCA
Office of the Secretary.

Church Safety Solutions is available monthly in electronic
format. The newsletters address a variety of important risk
management and safety topics to assist congregations. Topics
include emergency planning, building maintenance advice and
church camp safety issues.

The 2007 Insurance Buyer's Guide outlines the various types of
insurance coverage that every congregation should consider
purchasing, said Ullrich. The guide uses easy-to-understand
language to explain insurance coverage available to
congregations. The Charity First organization compiled the
publication for the ELCA. Charity First is the endorsed
administrator for the ELCA's Congregation and Synod Insurance
Program. This custom-tailored program provides significantly
enhanced coverage at competitive costs exclusively for the ELCA,
according to Ullrich.
