The ELCA Wittenberg Center was founded in 1999 as a learning center of the ELCA. The Center invites individuals, churches, colleges, seminaries, and other ministry groups to come to Wittenberg, Germany to explore their Lutheran faith, roots, and identity.
Educational Programs
The Center holds annual seminars in Wittenberg and webinars that connect Reformation topics and events with today’s church and society, following the Center’s call to be historically rooted and radically relevant. Webinars are free for anyone interested, and are targeted for an ELCA audience, including ELCA laypeople, rostered ministers, and ELCA global partners.

Worship Opportunities in English
The ELCA Wittenberg Center and the LWF Center Wittenberg lead a Reformation worship service together in English each year on October 30th at 5:00pm in the Castle Church.
The ELCA Wittenberg Center is also able to organize a worship service for your group when you visit.
Every year between May 1st and October 31st, an independent, pan-Lutheran organization called Wittenberg English Ministry (WEM) offers the following worship services in English:
- Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:00-2:20pm in the Fronleichnamkapelle (Corpus Christi Chapel), located directly next to the Stadtkirche (Town Church)
- Fridays from 12:00-12:20pm in the Schlosskirche (Castle Church)
- Saturdays from 5:00-5:45pm in either the Castle or Town church
For more information and for an updated worship schedule, please go to https://www.wittenbergenglishministry.com/. WEM is always looking for more ELCA pastors to come to Wittenberg and volunteer to lead worship for 2 weeks. Contact WEM Director Rev. Robert Flohrs at info@wittenbergenglishministry.com to apply. We highly recommend this opportunity!
