The ELCA World Hunger Leadership Gathering takes place every 18 months and gathers the national network of ELCA World Hunger leaders, congregations and ministry partners for a time of networking, idea sharing and planning for our shared ministry and service.
This signature event, sponsored in part by the Mary Wennes Endowment, gathers ELCA World Hunger’s leaders for a time of networking, idea sharing, learning, and planning for our shared ministry to address hunger and its root causes in our local and global communities.
This year’s event, September 18-21, will center on Micah 6:8, “[God] has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” The theme is Do. Love. Move: Toward a World without Hunger!
More about our Service-Learning Opportunity:
Mid-Ohio Food Collective, Columbus, Ohio
During the gathering hunger leaders will participate in a service learning opportunity for the day. This year we will visit the Mid-Ohio Food Collective. Tackling hunger takes a strong, sustainable food system that’s rooted in our communities. That’s why—through our Mid-Ohio Farm program—Mid-Ohio Food Collective is boosting access to fresh, locally grown produce and turning unused urban lots into spaces for agricultural education, public gatherings, and more.
Beginning as a concept in 2013, Mid-Ohio Farm has grown into a research, farming, and educational outreach program for our community and neighbors. MOFC currently operates two community farms in addition to gardens at the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. Click here for more information!
