Join ELCA Racial Justice and White Lutherans for Racial Justice for a screening of "A Time for Burning," the groundbreaking 1966 documentary that explores racism, faith and efforts toward racial reconciliation within the church.
Following the screening, participants will engage in a conversation with Bishop Scott Alan Johnson of the Nebraska Synod; Desta Goehner, president of White Lutherans for Racial Justice of the ELCA; and Jennifer DeLeon, director for racial justice at the ELCA. They will reflect on the film's continuing relevance, discuss its implications for the church today and offer practical guidance for using film screenings as tools for anti-racism education and community dialogue.
