Mission Builders

We find faith everywhere — and Mission Builders has crafted a ministry that embodies this by bringing together faithful members of all skill levels to serve. They help ELCA congregations, schools and camps build worship spaces, retreat centers and other facilities across the country. Mission Builders has a job for everyone. Though some Mission Builders workers are retired professional contractors, builders or carpenters, even more come from other walks of life and are welcomed with open Christian arms to learn on-site or contribute their unique skills in any way they can.

Most projects include basic construction and take about three months to complete, usually during the summer months, with finishing work completed by subcontractors. Congregations provide workers’ compensation insurance and minimum wage for five-day workweeks with eight-hour shifts. Mission Builders also get the valuable bonuses of personal fulfillment, becoming friends with fellow builders and their host communities, traveling around the country and seeing God’s love at work.
