God calls us to educate. The ELCA pursues that mission by supporting learning and teaching in the Lutheran tradition at all levels, from early learning centers and private elementary and secondary schools to colleges, universities and seminaries.
With the support of the Evangelical Lutheran Education Association (ELEA), the ELCA operates a weekday ministry through 1,400 schools and early learning centers that share the Lutheran faith and provide a solid education. As a member of the Council for American Private Education, the ELEA supports, empowers, and resources schools, early learning centers and congregations.
The Network of ELCA Colleges and Universities (NECU) includes members of the Churchwide organization and the presidents of 28 colleges and universities in the U.S., as well as the only college related to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada — Luther College in Saskatchewan. In addition, the ELCA's Lutheran Campus Ministry Network (LuMin) inspires, connects and equips more than 240 campus faith ministries.
For those called to serve as leaders and teachers in the name of Jesus Christ, our seminaries are seedbeds for spiritual growth, where students study scripture and engage in theological exploration so they can communicate God's grace in an ever-changing world.
