The Rev. Felix J. Malpica is bishop of the La Crosse Area Synod, whose mission is to “cultivate life-giving relationships rooted in God’s love.” A graduate of Luther College and Luther Seminary, Bishop Malpica was ordained in 2014. As a writer, musician, theologian, worship leader, preacher and visionary, he loves to help groups of people turn their faith into action. With a diverse experience of community, parish and youth ministry in Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Texas, he has been formally involved in local, national and international expressions of the church for more than 20 years. He currently serves on the board of Lutheran Social Services (LSS), the board of regents for Luther College and the board of directors for Holden Village, and as vice chair of the ELCA Conference of Bishops. All of this is supported by his favorite callings as husband to Jessica and father to Javier and Ruben.
