Church leaders today must be prepared to address questions concerning immigration policies and practices, and the Bible offers a wealth of resources for doing so. The Old Testament offers a theology of creation in which we are stewards rather than owners of land and all other earthly resources. In addition, numerous stories in the Old Testament present God’s people as migrants, urging us to consider questions of immigration and borders from the perspective of the migrants themselves. A second workshop offered on Wednesday will deal with the New Testament perspective on these issues.
