Capital campaigns, with gifts committed over multiple years, allow congregations to accomplish big, bold projects. Some congregations look toward new construction or renovation. Others have debt to pay off or building maintenance with a large price tag. Still other churches invest in new ministry projects or seed endowments for the future. No matter the project, talk of a pending capital campaign evokes responses ranging from energy and excitement to anxiety and fear. Underneath it all is a simple question: “Are we ready for a capital campaign?”
Congregations can take practical steps to assess their readiness, whether the need for a campaign is immediate or whether it stands a few years away. Through this workshop, participants will learn how to assess current ministry and lay the groundwork for a capital campaign.
